The Hall of Famer Jim Thome wore this green St. Patrick’s Day Philadelphia Phillies batting practice jersey during Spring Training in 2005. Thome, one of the best power hitters in the league, played with the Phillies from 2003 through 2005, and again in 2012, leading baseball with 47 home runs in 2003. Thome made the National League All-Star team with the Phillies in 2004, although his 2005 season saw the veteran first baseman play in only 59 games due to injury. Thome finished his MLB career with 612 homers, including 101 with the Phillies, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018. The batting practice jersey offered in this lot is made of green mesh. It is a button-down, with “Phillies” sewn across the chest in red chenille-stitching over white tackle twill. “THOME” is sewn on the back shoulders in white tackle twill over a matching green nameplate. Thome’s number “25” is sewn on the back of the jersey in white tackle twill. A Majestic tag with an attached size “52” flag is sewn on the front left tail. The jersey comes with a LOA from noted baseball game used jersey expert William Henderson.
