Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by PSA. Hall of Famer. Mickey Mantle's Rookie Card! Everyone wants one, but not everyone can find one. Or, speaking more candidly, not everyone can manage to buy one. The example offered here, however, delivers all of the excitement of Mantle's 1951 Bowman "High Number" card in an affordable, presentable state of preservation. Analysis of the card in terms of grading criteria leaves the piece wanting: years of storage, while pasted into a scrapbook for safekeeping, probably, have seen to that. Adhesive residue remains, compromising ready legibility of the back side's print, but that's a minor negative within the context of this always scarce and desirable piece. The card's image color is favorable, and obverse-side faults are limited to a bottom-right corner crease, a small smudge at the top-right and moderate peripheral wear. The piece is a very tough and popular collectible that retains generally respectable display quality in its cardfront. There are hundreds (or thousands!) of wantlists out there, representing otherwise comprehensive collections that are lacking number 253, and this card will be ideal to satisfy one of those worthy assemblies!
