Pete Rose made his return to Cincinnati in 1984 after his five seasons in Philadelphia and his partial season with the Montreal Expos. Rose eventually became the player-manager for the Reds in 1985 and 1986, earning the final All-Star nod of his career in 1985, before retiring as a player. He ended his playing career with 4,256 career hits, by far the most all-time in baseball history.

Offered here is a Cincinnati Reds road uniform – jersey and pants worn by Rose during the 1985 season. The road gray Cincinnati Reds pullover jersey is a size 44 and manufactured by Rawlings with their tag sewn on the inside left front tail and a “SET 1 1985” flag attached. Rawlings was the sole manufacturer of Reds jerseys contracted for the 1985 season. The front of the jersey has “CINCINNATI” sewn on the across the chest in red tackle twill and Rose’s number “14” sewn on in the same red tackle twill on the center left chest. The V-neck collar has a red/white/red pattern and the sleeve ends are capped in a red and white ribbed material. The back of the jersey has “ROSE” and his number “14” sewn on in red tackle twill.

The matching gray road pants were manufactured by W.A. Goodman & Sons and are a size 34 waist. The pants feature a red/white/red waist line with three snap buttons and a zipper on the front. The back has two pockets and the inner waist lining has the W.A. Goodman & Sons tag, along the with a white strip tag that has embroidered in red “ROSE 34-29 ‘85”. This lot comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication for the jersey’s game use and have also provided a photo match.
