Joe DiMaggio spent the 1948 baseball season, his 10th in the big leagues, leading the AL in homeruns (39) and RBI (155). He played in his 10th All Star game and finished second in voting for the league MVP. This Oct. 4, 1948 edition of Time Magazine shows a black-and-white close-up photograph of DiMaggio, looking back over his shoulder, super-imposed over a long-shot of a World Series game being played. Below the images the headline reads "The Yankees' Joe DiMaggio/With runs on the bases, his bat spells bingo. DiMaggio signed boldly in vivid blue Sharpie across the top of the cover. The signature has been authenticated with an LOA from James Spence Authenticators (#X42332).
