The Gold Glove Award is the ultimate acknowledgement of a ballplayer's fielding ability and Hall of Famer Dave Winfield earned his third Gold Glove Award in 1982. Winfield, who finished his second season with the Yankees, blasted 37 home runs and drove in 106 and displayed his canon arm from the outfield. This offered 17 x 16-inch trophy, while not the original award presented to Winfield, is a 100% genuine additional trophy made for display purposes for this 12-time All-Star and Hall-of-Famer. The award itself displays a gold-painted Rawlings model fielder’s glove mounted on a solid oak platform featuring a bust photo of Winfield in his Yankees’ hat and pinstriped jersey embossed onto a metallic gold colored plate. A pair of gold painted Rawlings baseballs supported by golden tripods flank the glove. The base has a golden plaque engraved with "1982 RAWLINGS GOLD GLOVE AWARD PRESENTED TO DAVE WINFIELD Honoring His Selection To The Sporting News American League All Star Fielding Team". A pair of red Rawlings logos complete the plaque. The trophy is in excellent condition, displaying only minor abrasion marks and edge wear. This coveted award still retains its impressive presence, a true icon of sports awards.
