Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux glides across the cover of this March 12, 2001 edition of SI, carrying the puck for his beloved Pittsburgh Penguins. After a three-year hiatus, he would end up scoring 76 points in 43 games. Lemieux had already become owner of the Penguins and would play another five seasons, adding to his already abundant offensive records, before retiring at age 40 in 2006. The cover is titled "The Second Coming/Mario Lemieux's comeback lights up the NHL." Lemieux has boldly signed the cover of this SI in vivid black Sharpie (grade 10), between his hands, which are gripping his stick. A COA from PSA/DNA (#K32684) accompanies this item and authenticates the autograph.
