A masterpiece of the period photographers' craftsmanship! This sepia-toned team composite features thirteen civilian-clothed members of the Columbus, Ohio American Association ball club artfully placed beside a standing batter and several items of game paraphernalia. The 4-3/16" x 6-1/2" relic was produced in honor of the local squad by Baker's Art Gallery. Remarkable clarity is seen in the faces of the men pictured, with the 3-7/8" x 5-1/2" photographic component of the cabinet exhibiting virtually no evidence of handling. The overall preservation quality of the paper antique's image is very favorable, while the mount concedes mostly peripheral wear. A supremely eye-catching – and very rare – 19th Century illustration.
