The Uruguayan Football Association Board of Directors presented la celeste star Jose Pedro Cea with this World Cup winner’s medal after Cea and the Uruguayan XI claimed the inaugural 1930 FIFA World Cup title in Montevideo. Cea was a mainstay in the Uruguay team during the 1920’s and 1930’s, winning Olympic gold medals in 1924 and 1928 and leading Uruguay in goals scored during the 1930 World Cup, with five goals. The Nacional player scored in the Final against Argentina, equalizing the score at 2-2 in the 57th minute of Uruguay’s eventual 4-2 victory. Cea earned 30 caps for Uruguay and scored 15 goals for the national team.
This offered medal is rectangular, with an image of the Jules Rimet Trophy etched in high relief on the front. Etched on the back is “Asociacion Uruguaya De Football Junta Dirigente” and “Pedro Cea”. This bronze medal is in good condition.
