After a 12-year hiatus due to the ongoing second World War, the Summer Olympic games resumed in London in 1948. This 62-gram, bronze 1948 London participation medal in original red cardboard box, was issued to chief of the Uruguay delegation Raul Bove Ceriani whose diploma from the same Olympic Games is featured in lot 1140 also offered in this auction. Bronze medal contains City view of London over XIV Olympiad London 1948 legend written three lines above Olympic rings. Reverse image is of Quadriga winner racing to the left. A total of 4,062 participant medals were issued.
