Offered is a hard to find medal awarded by FIFA to the participants in the soccer tournament for the 1988 summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. This 2" diameter medal weighs 56 grams and bears "FIFA Founded 1904" in raised letters on the front with two soccer balls containing the continents. The reverse has "OLYMPIC FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT SEOUL 1988". In very small letters on the reverse is the name "HUGUENIN", the manufacturer of medals for FIFA and the Olympics. This medal was presented to Luis Islas of Argentina. He is a former 1986 World Cup champion for Argentina and also a 1994 World Cup participant. This medal is significantly more rare than the medals that were presented to all the athletes, from all sports, attending the games by the IOC. Excellent overall condition.
