Offered here is a Hillerich & Bradsby S2 model bat used by former Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers pitching great Don Newcombe in the minor leagues and post Major League dating to 1961-1963. Newcombe last appeared in the Majors in 1960 with the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians and spent the next two seasons with Spokane of the Pacific Coast League in 1961 and Chunichi of the Japan Central League in 1962. This bat displays excellent game use and has a crack in the handle and back barrel. There is checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the left barrel and the cracks and checking have been repaired. The bat’s model number “S2” is stamped on the knob and Newcombe’s number “36” has been handwritten in faded black marker on the knob. The handle has been taped in a thin taped spaced out spiral pattern to enhance the grip. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19676) for the game use.
