Led by the bats of Curtis Granderson and mid-season pickup Yoenis Cespedes, the Mets won the National League East Division and defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs in the National League playoffs. Matched up against the Kansas City Royals in the World Series, the Mets offense was stymied and they fell in five games to their American League foe.
