Presented is an authentic, original storyboard for the HBO film presentation “61*”, in a framed collage signed by the film’s director, Billy Crystal and the story board illustrator, Chris Buchinsky. Crystal, the comedian, actor, director and life-long New York Yankees fan, signed his name in black marker in the upper right of the 8½ x 11-inch white letterhead from “61* Productions, Inc.” (printed in black on the right margin), while Buchinsky has signed in black marker on the right margin. The page features four gray graphite pencil illustrations of one scene from the 2001 sports drama, depicting Yankees teammates Roger Marris and Mickey Mantle, and fans in the stands, reacting to a Mantle home run. The four illustrations are accompanied by notes on the scene “189”, with some dialogue and action descriptions. The dual-signed storyboard page is mounted at the top of a navy-blue matte with white and black accents, above a 10 x 11½-inch color print of Mantle (at left) and Maris (at right) with bats over their shoulders and the caption “M&M Boys” in red across the top. Below the print is a 2 x 6-inch silver metal plaque with black accents and the engraved caption, in silver, “AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL STORYBOARD From the HBO Original Movie “61” Hand Signed by Director Billy Crystal and Story Illustrator Chris Buchinsky Original Air Date April 28, 2001”. The dual-signed storyboard, print and plaque are displayed in a 16½ x 32-inch brown wood with black accents frame with glass. Please note there is a small scratch in the wood on the lower left of the frame. The HBO Original movie “61*” is a sports drama, written by Hank Steinberg and directed by Crystal. It stars Barry Pepper as Roger Maris and Thomas Jane as Mickey Mantle on their quest to break Babe Ruth's 1927 single-season home run record of 60 during the 1961 season of the New York Yankees.
