2020 Late December Auction Closing January 3

In 1964, Yogi Berra took the reins of the New York Yankees for the first time, leading a power-packed Yankees squad to yet another American League pennant. The Yanks won 99 games, finishing one game ahead of the Chicago White Sox to set up a World Series matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals. Unfortunately for the Yankees, Bob Gibson kept their bats in check as the Cardinals fought to a seven game World Series victory. Offered in this lot is a stunning commemorative black bat that was presented to former owner and Hall of Famer Bill Veeck. This bat has the facsimile signatures of the 1964 Yankees players engraved on the bat. There is also text that reads “NEW YORK YANKEES AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 1964” in green on the bat. The player names and the inscription are rendered in gold and green ink. This comes with a LOA from the family of the late Bill Veeck authenticating that this bat was presented to him.
