2020 Late December Auction Closing January 3

The 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers were the toast of the National League, winning the Senior Circuit pennant by a cavernous 13-game margin over the Milwaukee Braves. Led by the formidable Roy Campanella, who won the second of his three National League MVP Awards in 1953, and his fellow Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Pee Wee Reese, and Duke Snider, the Dodgers orchestrated their second straight pennant-winning season. Although the Dodgers fell to the Yankees in the World Series, “The Bums” were only two seasons away from their franchise’s first World Series title. Offered in this lot is a stunning commemorative black bat bearing the facsimile signatures of the 1953 Dodgers players engraved on the bat. There is also text that reads “BROOKLYN DODGERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 1953” in faded green on the bat. The player names and the inscription are rendered in gold and faded green ink.
