In that last season before the war (World War II), the New York Yankees returned to the top of the baseball world by beating their long-time rivals, the Brooklyn Dodgers, in the 1941 World Series. The Series was made famous by the dropped 3rd strike that began a Yankees rally in Game 4. The momentum caused the Yankees to win Game 5 and the Series. Offered in this lot is a stunning commemorative black bat bearing the facsimile signatures of the 1941 Yankees players engraved on the bat. There is also text that reads “NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD CHAMPIONS 1941” in faded green on the bat. The player names and the inscription are rendered in gold and faded green ink.
