Presented is a 1993 Joe DiMaggio handwritten diary entry with a photograph in a framed display. The Hall of Fame New York Yankees centerfielder has written his personal diary entry for January 24, 1993 in blue pen on an 8½ x 11-inch white sheet of paper. DiMaggio details the events of this particular Sunday in retirement years in tight, clear handwritten script beginning with “Up at 6AM. Got dressed and had breakfast. Went to mass at 8:00 AM. Hit some golf balls on the driving range and I hit them terrible.” DiMaggio’s diary entry for the day concludes with notes about his departure for the airport the next morning for a flight home to San Francisco, and the notations in the lower right corner of the page of his expenses for the day – “Food 21.00 Tips 4.00 Clubhouse workers 2.00 $37.00”. The diary page is mounted in a dark red frame at the right side of the display, which includes a background image of various diary pages, note pages, airline boarding passes with a background of a Yankees pinstriped jersey and the Yankee Stadium rooftop frieze and the legend, in black and dark red type, “The Joe DiMaggio Diaries”. At the upper left of the display is an 8 x10-inch black and white photograph of DiMaggio dressed in a dark suit and tie standing on the steps of the Yankees dugout at Yankee Stadium. The photo is inscribed “4/56” in silver marker in the lower right. Below the photo is a 2½ x 6-inch gold metal plaque engraved in black “A day in the life of Joe DiMaggio “The Joe DiMaggio Diaries””, with a replica DiMaggio signature in the center. The DiMaggio diary page, photo and plaque “float” above the background and are displayed in a 2½ x 23¾ x 27¾-inch shadowbox with a black wood with glass frame. This item comes with a COA from Steiner.
