Offered is a lot of two Bill Terry and Ted Williams dual-signed baseballs, representing the last two Major League Baseball hitters to finish a season with a .400 batting average. The first item in this lot is a Bill Terry and Ted Williams dual-signed Official National League A. Bartlett Giamatti baseball. Terry signed “Wm. H. (Bill) Terry” in blue pen on the left of the sweet spot while Williams signed “Ted Williams” in dark blue pen to the right. This item comes with a STICKER ONLY from JSA (BB13529). The second item in this lot is a Bill Terry and Ted Williams dual-signed ONL Giamatti baseball. Terry signed his name “W. H. (Bill) Terry” in black pen at the left of the sweet spot while Williams signed “Ted Williams” in blue pen to the right. This item comes with a STICKER ONLY from JSA (BB13528). Terry, a Hall of Fame New York Giants first baseman and manager, played in the majors from 1923 through 1936. In 1930, Terry had an historic season. He finished first in the National League with a .401 batting average, the first player to hit over .400 since Rogers Hornsby in 1925. It is also the last time to date that anyone in the National League has hit .400. Williams, a Hall of Fame Boston Red Sox leftfielder, played for Boston from 1939 through 1960, with interruptions by military service during World War II and the Korean War. In 1941, Williams posted a .406 batting average; he is the last MLB player to bat over .400 in a season. This lot comes with a LOA from JSA.
