For Derek Jeter, 2012 was a milestone year from the Yankees captain as he passed both Paul Waner and Tony Gwynn on the all-time career hits list. This Louisville Slugger P72 is one of the bats he used in his relentless drive to become the first Yankee to reach the 3,000 hits mark. Photo matched to five games from April 6th – April 10th of 2013, Jeter used this bat to his first home run of the season during the April 10th game at Camden Yards in Baltimore where the Yankees won 5-4. Jeter homered off of Orioles’ pitcher Wei-Yin Chen in the top of the first inning to open the scoring.

PSA/DNA has photo matched this very bat and have included six images, which include the April 6th (7th inning), April 7th (1st inning), April 8th (1st inning), April 9th (4th inning), April 10th (1st inning home run at-bat and an additional 1st inning image) games. This all-black bat displays outstanding game use with a crack in the handle that has bee repaired. There are many ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs present on the barrel, along with some cleat imprints and an impression of a weighted donut. The handle has a heavy coating of Mota Stick and the bat’s manufacture date “02/01/12” and length/weight “34.0/32.0” are stamped on the knob in white. This impressive gamer has been capped off by Derek Jeter’s distinctive signature that he signed in silver marker on the barrel, while adding the inscriptions “The Captain” and “.316 BA 15 HR”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B04160) who have photo matched this bat and authenticated its game use and has been given the highest possible grade of GU 10. There is also a COA from Steiner Sports for Jeter’s signature.
