Rickey Henderson is widely considered the greatest leadoff hitter in baseball history and is the MLB record holder for career stolen bases and runs scored, but we can't stop there. He is the single season stolen base king, with 130 thefts in 1982, and led the league in stolen bases 12 times. His high on-base percentage, power hitting, stolen base and run totals made him one of the most dynamic players of his era. But this jersey in particular focuses on his stolen bases. Rickey entered the 1991 season three steals away from breaking the all-time record and it was clear that he wanted to set the record in front of his family and fans at home in Oakland. As a result, Henderson did not play in his first road game until May 10th of that year. On April 9th he got #937 and on April 28th Rickey Henderson stole base #938 of his career, putting him into a tie for the all time lead with Lou Brock. We present the jersey worn by Henderson as he recorded those first two stolen bases of 1991. The Jersey is inscribed on front "Rickey Henderson, 1991 937-8 4-28-91" The Jersey is inscribed on the back "Rickey Henderson 937-8". The jersey is a home white Oakland A's Rawlings jersey with tagging inside tail size 42, set 1 1991. The jersey has Henderson's number 24 on front and on back. Also on back, sewn on Nameplate is 'HENDERSON.' The A's elephant logo is on the right sleeve. The jersey shows moderate and consistent wear. As a customization, Henderson has cut off the jersey at the bottom, as he tended to do. The jersey comes with a PSA/DNA full LOA for Henderson signatures (2) and inscriptions (2).
