Presented is a LeRoy Neiman signed original colored marker and watercolor paint artwork from his private sketchbook having never been duplicated called “Tiger Woods Wing Foot”, in a framed display. This is a limited-edition 1 of 1 and the famed American artist painted the champion pro golf star in a red polo shirt with black cap and black pants, holding a golf club at his side in his right hand, on a 5¾ x 11½-inch white cardboard cut. Two splashes of red watercolor paint are in the upper left corner of the piece, along with a black paint line in the left center and three light water blotches across the lower center. Neiman has inscribed “Tiger Woods Wing Foot” in orange paint in the lower right below the figure and signed his name in gray watercolor below the title. From the mid-1950s through to the late 2010’s, Neiman painted countless major figures in the arts, politics, and sports. One of his most famous sports subjects, Muhammad Ali, became a lifelong friend. Neiman became the athletic world’s most renowned artist as he took his brush to capture the throbbing competition in basketball, boxing, hockey, gymnastics, swimming, cycling, shotput, billiards, and more. Neiman portrayed life as a series of epic moments, alive with palpable drama, and enacted on a world stage by the greatest athletes and entertainers. He did pre-fight sketches for the first Muhammed Ali-Joe Frazier bout for The New York Times Magazine. But Neiman owed his increasing worldwide renown to television. He not only made art available to the masses via TV, but he also helped to demystify art for everyone who saw his work. Named the official artist of the Olympiad in 1972, he held that role through five Olympics. His al fresco paintings of the Olympic competitions made his art visible to millions of people. And his TV appearances, donning his handlebar mustache and his waving ever-present Cuban cigar, made Neiman a media showman and one of the world’s most famous living artists. The Neiman “Tiger Woods Wing Foot” painting, circa August 1997, is mounted in a white linen matte displayed in a 14¾ x 21-inch black wood with glass frame. This item comes with a COA from Timothy Yarger Fine Art.
