This is the bat Cal Ripken used to club his 400th career home run. The blast came in the 3rd inning of the September 2, 1999 game against Tampa Bay. With the game knotted at 2-2 and two Orioles on base, Cal hit a 1-1 Rolando Arrojo pitch 372 feet to left field. The crown stood frozen as the ball skirted the foul line before it just cleared the pole – fair! The game put the O’s up 5-2 and made Cal a member of the 400 Home Run Club. This is the bat he used that day.

The Louisville Slugger P72 model bat shows outstanding game use with a slight crack on the handle. There are several tremendous ball marks and white leather ball scuffs on the barrel. The handle has been coated with a moderate coat of pine tar and both ends of the bat show scuffing and small chipping from contact with the ground. To mark the historical significance of this bat, a piece of white athletic tape has been wrapped around the barrel on which, “HR #400 CR” has been handwritten in black marker. The bat has been further complimented with a graceful Cal Ripken autograph and “400th Career H.R.” on the barrel in silver marker. A great piece that was used by the Hall of Famer to gain admittance to the 400 Career Home Run Club. This bat comes with a signed LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. for the game use and a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19669) for the game use, who have given the highest possible grade of GU 10. This item also comes with a COA from Beckett Authentication, who witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item.
