For Cal Ripken, Jr., June 13, 1999 was a day all ballplayers dream of. Not only did Baltimore win the game by a score of 22-1, but the Orioles all-star went 6 for 6 at the plate against Atlanta. Cal also batted in six of the O’s 22 runs and scored 5 himself. Of those six hits, one was a double off Russ Springer and two were home runs – the 390th and 391st of his career; the first a 3-run shot off John Smoltz in the 1st and the other a 2-run blast in the 4th off Justin Speier. This is the bat Cal used for that night in an offensive demonstration the Braves would remember for a long time.

The Louisville Slugger P72 model bat shows tremendous game use. There are many ball marks on the barrel which include stitch imprints, leather ball scuffs and ink transfers. Bat rack streaks are present as are scuffs and dings on both ends from contact with the ground. A moderate coat of pine tar has been applied to the handle and a ring of white tape on the barrel has been lettered with the details of Cal’s 6 for 6 game. The Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in silver marker, also adding, “June 13, 1999 6 for 6.” This bat comes with a LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. and PSA/DNA (1B19666) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10 by PSA/DNA, plus a certificate from Beckett Authentication stating they witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item.
