Cal Ripken, Jr. wore this uniform set during the first game of the October 5, 2001 doubleheader against Boston at Camden Yards. This uniform set has been photo matched by Resolution Photomatching. This would be the final home stand of his career, which came to an end two games later on October 6. In the game in which he donned this uni, Cal went 1-for-4, his hit coming off Frank Castillo in the bottom of the 7th. As Cal went hitless in his final two games, this would be the last hit of the 3,184 he recorded in his 22-year career. The white home jersey features “Orioles” across the chest and Ripken’s number “8” below in orange and black tackle twill. Black piping runs around the neck and down the front. Both sleeve ends have black piping while the left has the oriole bird patch and the right has the special American League 100th Anniversary patch. The left front tail has the Majestic label with size “50” strip tag below. The back has the American flag patch worn after 9/11 and “RIPKEN” across the shoulders above his number “8” in orange and black tackle twill. The jersey shows good game use with scuffs and toning throughout and prominent pine tar staining on the front left tail. This gamer has been signed on the front in black marker. The matching white home pants has black piping down each leg. The Majestic label is sewn in the waistband with an “8 RIPKEN 38/40-37-01” strip tag. The pants show good game use with some staining on the seat and thighs. A bold Ripken signature is on the left thigh in black marker. This uniform comes with a LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. for the game use and signature and a certificate from Beckett Authentication stating they witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item. There is also a LOA from Resolution Photomatching, who have photo matched the jersey and pants to the first game of the double-header played on October 5th, 2001.
