July 31, 1999 was another milestone for Cal Ripken, Jr. This time it was Cal’s 2,900th career hit. The O’s were in the Kingdome playing the Mariners in what turned out to be a slugfest – Seattle belting four home runs and Baltimore two in the 10-6 Mariners win. Cal’s historic single came in the sixth inning off Jamie Moyer. The Orioles legend was 3-for-6 in the game, the other two hits being a single and a line drive solo home run hit off Moyer in the top of the fifth. The Nike cleats show good game use with moderate scuffing. Cal’s number “8” is embroidered on each tongue in orange and the heals feature the Nike logo and Cal’s initials, “C.R.” The Hall of Famer has signed the outside heel of the right cleat in silver marker with the inscription “Hit #2900.” These cleats come with a LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. for the game use and signature and a certificate from Beckett Authentication stating they witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item.
