Cal Ripken, Jr. reached the 2,500th consecutive game mark on April 25, 1998 when he took the field in Camden Yards against Oakland. In true Ripken style, The Iron Man marked the occasion by going 2 for 5 and driving in three as the O’s whipped the A’s, 8-2. These are the cleats he was wearing for game 2,500. The Nike cleats show good game use with moderate scuffing. Cal’s number “8” is embroidered on each tongue in orange and the heals feature the Nike logo and Cal’s initials, “C.R.” The Hall of Famer has signed the outside heel of the right cleat in silver marker with the inscription “2500 CG.” Cal has also inscribed the bottom of the left cleat with “2500 Last Used 4/28/98” in black marker. These cleats come with a LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. for the game use and signature and a certificate from Beckett Authentication stating they witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item.
