Ripken played in all 161 games the Orioles played in 1988 and hit 23 home runs, with 81 RBI. Besides his bat, Cal shined at shortstop, turning 119 double plays and tallying 480 assists. Used during that 1988 campaign, Cal’s Rawlings PRO-6-HF model fielder's glove shows tremendous game use. The fingertips exhibit many scuffs as does the outer leather. There are perspiration staining throughout along with turf marks and abrasions from game use. The pocket has been darked from countless fielded balls and the index finger hole still shows the indentation from Cal’s finger. The Rawlings label is still affixed, though there is some edge fraying. The Orioles star has signed the middle finger in black marker, adding “1988 GAME” above on the index finger. A textbook Ripken gamer from meat of his Hall of Fame career. This glove comes with a LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. and PSA/DNA for the game use and a certificate from Beckett Authentication stating they witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item.
