While Cal Ripken, Jr. received tremendous accolades when he broke Lou Gehrig’s record of 2,130 consecutive games played, there was actually still one more record that needed to be broken to be the true Iron Man – that of Japanese league star Sachio Kinugasa. Cal surpassed that record on the night of June 14, 1996 when he played in his 2,216th consecutive game. This is the bat Cal used that night as he became the sole owner of one of sports most impressive records.

The Louisville Slugger P72 model bat exhibits good game use with a cracked handle. The barrel has many ball marks that include leather ball scuffs and stitch impressions. Both ends display scuffs and chipping from contact with the ground and the handle has a moderate coat of pine tar. The knob end has a white piece of tape affixed and the barrel has a white tape with “2216” handwritten in black marker. A great gamer attributed to a game that broke a world record. This bat comes with a LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr. for the game use and signature and a LOA from PSA/DNA for the game use with the highest possible grade of GU 10. There is also a certificate from Beckett Authentication stating they witnessed Cal Ripken, Jr. signing this item.
