Offered are two 2009 New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner signed “Preliminary Official Statement”(s) for a $259 million New York City Industrial Development Agency bond issue towards the construction of the “New” Yankee Stadium. The late Yankees general partner signed his name “G. M. Steinbrenner III” in blue marker in the lower right of the front cover of each of the over 100-page 8½ x 11-inch white paper documents, which are “Dated January 20, 2009” on the front cover. During Steinbrenner's 37-year ownership from 1973 until his death in July 2010, the longest in club history, the Yankees earned seven World Series titles and 11 American League pennants. His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries made him one of the sport's most controversial figures. The new Yankee Stadium, opened at the beginning of the 2009 Major League Baseball season, incorporates replicas of some design elements from the original Yankee Stadium, and like its predecessor, it has hosted additional events, including college football games, soccer matches, two outdoor NHL games, and concerts. Although Yankee Stadium's construction began in August 2006, the project spanned many years and faced many controversies, including the high public cost and the loss of public parkland. The $2.3 billion price tag makes the new Yankee Stadium one of the most expensive stadiums ever built. These signed documents come with individual LOAs from JSA.
