Presented is a lot of four 1892 to 1930 era checks, including two signed by Baseball Hall of Fame manager and executive Ed Barrow. The first item in this lot is a blue paper check from the First National Bank of Cooperstown, New York inscribed “7/30/ (18)92” in black fountain pen. The 3¼ x 8½-inch blue paper check features an illustration of the landmark statue “Leatherstocking” from Cooperstown at the left front and is inscribed in black fountain pen with the amount ($1,163.16) and other notations in script. The second item in this lot is a blue paper check from the First National Bank of Cooperstown, New York stamped in blue “Apr 23, 1906” in the upper right. The check is inscribed in black fountain pen with the amount, $1,312.09, other notations, and signatures on the 3¼ x 8½-inch blue paper check, which features an illustration of the landmark statue “Leatherstocking” from Cooperstown at the left front.

The third item in this lot is a dual-signed check with the signatures of Hall of Fame New York Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert (in black fountain pen on the lower right) and manager Ed Barrow (in blue fountain pen in the left edge). The 3¼ x 9-inch white paper check is on the business account of “The American League Base Ball Club of New York, Inc.” from the Yorkville (New York) Bank in the amount of $200, dated June 30, 1925. Barrow served as business manager (the de facto general manager) of the New York Yankees from 1921 to 1939 and as team president from 1939 to 1945 and is credited with building the Yankee dynasty. Barrow was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953. This item has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (83374761) and Barrow’s signature is graded as authentic. The fourth item in this lot is a dual-signed check with the signatures of Hall of Fame New York Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert (in black fountain pen on the lower right) and manager Ed Barrow (in black fountain pen in the left edge). The 3¼ x 9-inch white paper check is on the business account of “The American League Base Ball Club of New York, Inc.” from the Manufacturers Trust Company in the amount of $400, dated September 26, 1930. This item has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (83374760) and Barrow’s signature is graded as authentic.
