Presented is a vintage 1969 New York Mets World Series Championship-Coca-Cola 16-millimeter highlight film reel from their upset of the Baltimore Orioles from the Fall Classic. The 14-inch reel of black & white, 16-mm. movie film is stored in a 1½ x 14½ x 14½ -inch red plastic film shipping container. The top center of the red plastic lid features the silk-screened in white Coca-Cola logo and the caption “1969 World Series”, above a 5 x 7-inch white plastic frame for a shipping label. The four corners of the top lid include white plastic “screw” latches. Please note that there is a small portion of movie film rolled in the lower inside corner, loose from the main reel. Coca-Cola was a long-time sponsor of Major League Baseball, and often provided baseball collectibles such as this film reel to their local distributors. In the 66th edition of the World Series, the Mets won the series, four games to one, to accomplish one of the greatest upsets in Series history, as that Orioles team was considered one of the finest ever. The World Series win earned the team the sobriquets "The Amazin' Mets" and "The Miracle Mets", as they had risen from the depths of mediocrity (the 1969 team had the first winning record in Mets history). This was the first World Series of MLB's divisional era.
