Presented is a replica of the 1986 Heisman Trophy presented to the University of Miami quarterback Vinny Testaverde. The 5½ x 14½ x 17-inch bronze-colored plastic and wood replica trophy incorporates the classic running back with right arm extended statue atop a black wood base. (Please note that the running back statue is loose from the wood base.)  Mounted on the front of the base is a 3½ x 10-inch black, white and silver metal plaque engraved in gold with the legend “The Heisman Memorial Trophy is Presented by Downtown Athletic Club of New York City to Vinny Testaverde University of Miami as the Outstanding College Football Player in the United States for 1986”. Testaverde won Miami’s first Heisman Trophy while leading the Hurricanes to an undefeated regular season in 1986, his senior year.  Testaverde threw for 2,557 yards and 26 touchdowns (while also adding four rushing scores) as Miami finished the regular season 11-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country. Testaverde won the Heisman in a landslide over Temple’s Paul Palmer. A loss to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl cost the Hurricanes another national title, but it didn’t dim Testaverde’s star. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Testaverde as the first overall pick of the 1987 NFL Draft. He finished his pro career with 46,233 yards passing and 275 touchdowns, both among the top eight on the NFL career charts at the time of his retirement. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
