Presented is a Joe Namath signature and inscription on a reproduction print of the official program cover for Super Bowl III in a framed display. The Hall of Fame New York Jets quarterback signed his name in blue marker in the lower center of the print and inscribed his uniform number “12” below his signature. The 8 x 10-inch (visible) print features the legend “Super Bowl” across the top in red and blue painted letters on a white background, above the painted figures of a Baltimore Colts defender and a New York Jets receiver from the back, with the National Football League and American Football League logos in gold at left and right, respectively. The Namath signed and inscribed print is mounted in a marbled green with white accent matte and displayed in a 13 x 16-inch black plastic with clear plastic frame. Super Bowl III was the third AFL–NFL Championship Game and the first to officially bear the trademark name "Super Bowl". Played on January 12, 1969, at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, the game is regarded as one of the greatest upsets in both American football history and in the recorded history of sports. The 18-point underdog AFL champion Jets, led by Namath, defeated the NFL champion Colts 16–7. Namath famously made an appearance three days before the Super Bowl at the Miami Touchdown Club and personally guaranteed his team's victory. He completed 17 out of 28 passes for 206 yards and was named as the Super Bowl's most valuable player, making him the first player in Super Bowl history to be declared MVP without personally scoring or throwing for a touchdown.
