Presented is a vintage 1917 baseball championship trophy. The 11¾-inch silver metal cup with handles is inscribed with scroll work around the open 5-inch lip of the cup. The front of the cup is inscribed with the legend “Wright & Ditson Trophy Cent. Dist. A.A. Baseball Champion 1917”. At the center of the inscription is a gold metal engraving of a baseball player at bat, with a player standing at third base, in front of the third base bleachers of fans at an unidentified ballpark. The engraved plaque is encircled by engraved laurels. The trophy is tarnished on the base and has a dent below the right handle in the cup.
