The mid-1980's were the "sweet spot" of Cal Ripken, Jr's career. Already established as a Big-League star, Ripken proceeded to display the unstoppable work ethic that defined his career. It was during this period that Ripken's streak of consecutive games played was first noted and it was a stretch in which he was coming off of the 1982 American League Rookie of the Year and 1983 AL MVP. Dating the 1986 season, Cal's two-toned Louisville Slugger P72 model bat displays outstanding game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and cleat imprints present on the barrel. The knob has Ripken’s number “8” handwritten in black marker an also handwritten on the knob is “33 ½” in blue and “1/2” in black. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item. Additionally, there is a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19807) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of GU 10.
