Hall of Famer and baseball’s Ironman Cal Ripken, Jr. used this Louisville Slugger P72 model bat during the June 15th, 2000 game against the Texas Rangers at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Ripken singled to right field in his first at-bat against Rangers’ pitcher Esteban Loaiza in the bottom of the second inning and then flew out to right field in the bottom of the 4th. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and displays outstanding game use. This bat has a slight crack on the handle, along with numerous ball marks, blue ink transfers, white leather scuffs and slight checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact present on the barrel. There is a moderate coating of pine tar on the upper handle and Ripken has added a piece of white athletic tape that wraps around the end of the barrel that reads “Loiza 2nd AB 6-15-00”. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this bat. Additionally, there is a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19772) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of GU 10.
