Former Republican Congressman Robert Ehrlich, Jr. served as Maryland’s 2nd District representative from 1995 until 2003 later becoming the governor of Maryland. During his time in Congress, Ehrlich co-sponsored House Resolution 247 during the 107th Congress on October 2, 2001 honoring Cal Ripken, Jr. for his legendary and historic career with the Baltimore Orioles. The resolution read “Honoring Cal Ripken, Jr. for an outstanding career, congratulating him on his retirement, and thanking him for his contributions to baseball, to the State of Maryland, and the to the Nation. Offered here is Cal Ripken, Jr’s copy of that House Resolution. This two-page document has been adhered to a black cardboard backing that his been framed to a dimension of 16 x 20. Former Congressman Ehrlich has signed and inscribed a message to Cal, handwritten in silver marker at the bottom right corner that reads “To Cal – Thanks For Twenty One Great Seasons!”. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
