Hall of Famer and baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. bade farewell to old Memorial Stadium in 1991 by hitting .323 with a career-high 34 home runs. It was statistically Ripken’s finest offensive season as the Orioles superstar earned his second American League MVP Award. In doing so, Ripken was presented with this 12 x 15-inch wood plaque for winning the American League MVP. “1991 MVP AMERICAN LEAGUE” is printed in gold on a black and orange plate at the very top of this award. Gold colored laurels surround the corners of an 8 x 10-inch photograph of Ripken in his home white Orioles uniform holding the 1991 Home Run Derby Champion Trophy at SkyDome in Toronto. An additional black plate with an orange border has etched in gold print “9 CONSECUTIVE ALL STAR GAMES 1982 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR 1983 MVP AMERICAN LEAGUE 1991 MVP ALL STAR GAME”. This award comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
