As the 2001 season was coming to a close, so was the Hall of Fame career of baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. One of those final stops came during a weekend series with the Anaheim Angels in late July. Presented here is one of the bases from the July 28th, 2001 game in Anaheim that comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. This Schutte base features Ripken’s number “8” in large font on the top of the base in orange with black borders. The sides of the base have Ripken’s “8” on opposite panels, with the Anaheim Angels logo panel on one side and the MLB logo on the opposite side. The base displays moderate use with some dirt and abrasion stains. Please note that there is no metal anchor attached. This comes with a signed LOA from Cal Ripken, Jr., along with an MLB Authenticated hologram (GT040273), which authenticates that this base was used during the July 28th, 2001 game.
