Carlton Fisk came back from an early season injury to join with Fred Lynn and Jim Rice to lead Boston to the 1975 American League pennant. The Boston catcher hit .331 down the stretch and proceeded to go into overdrive in the post season. After hitting .417 against Oakland, Fisk single-handedly saved the Red Sox from an early exit in the World Series against Cincinnati when he hit what might be the most dramatic home run in recent memory. The 12th inning walk-off homer will always be remembered for the slugger emphatically “waving” the ball fair, than leaping around the bases as the series went to a do-or-die Game 7. On the evening of the dramatic Game 6 home run, this Adirondack Big Stick 155B model bat was gifted to a Boston restaurateur by pitcher Dick Pole and other members of the team for his longstanding support of the Sox.

Although the recipient was told that the bat was game used during the World Series by Fisk, it cannot be attributed to the famous Game 6 home run. The bat was turned over to the recipient’s younger brother the same evening he was gifted it, and it has remained in his possession ever since. The bat is un-cracked and displays good game use. There are several ball marks on the barrel along with cleat imprints and bat rack paint streaks. There is a moderate coat of pine tar on the lower handle and both ends of the bat show abrasions from contact with the ground. Topping off this 1975 World Series gamer is Carlton’s famous number “27” handwritten on the knob in black marker. This bat comes with a signed letter of provenance from the original owner and a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B24199) for the game use.
