The Yankees returned to their pre-war winning ways by grabbing the 1947 pennant with a cobbled together team of aging vets and nondescript journeymen. Helmed by veteran manager Bucky Harris, the team was led by Joe DiMaggio and Phil Rizzuto and a pitching staff of 21-game winner Vic Raschi and 17-game winner Allie Reynolds. The Yanks would hold off Boston by a single game before beating Jackie Robinson and his Brooklyn Dodgers in seven games for the Championship.

Made by Dieges & Clust this offered 1947 New York Yankees championship ring is 14 karat gold and has “NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD CHAMPIONS” surrounding the oval-shaped top and was presented to longtime chief scout Paul Krichell. Krichell was the scout who discovered Lou Gehrig and also signed Hall of Famers Phil Rizzuto, Charlie Keller, Vic Raschi and Whitey Ford. Krichell was the longest-tenured employee in the Yankees’ organization until his passing in 1957. The wording around the outside top was originally in raised relief, but has since lost some of its detail. A large genuine diamond is centered on a baseball diamond shape with leaves surrounding the inside. Each shank has a soaring bald eagle logo with “1947” in raised relief below and “NEW YORK” in banner form above. “Paul Krichell” is engraved on the inside band, along with “D&C 14K”. The ring weighs approximately 27.85 grams and is a size 12 that was resized from its original size of 10 ¼. This ring is in fair to good condition and comes with a LOA from PSA (AH03555) for its authenticity and a blue Superman logo ring case.

Also included in this lot is a full 1947 World Series Program. This program from the 1947 World Series played between the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers features the Yankees logo on the front cover behind a blue background. Inside the program are black and white photographs of players from both clubs as well as short player biographies. This World Series was the first racially integrated series as Brooklyn Dodger Jackie Robinson had broken Major League Baseball’s color barrier by joining the team at the beginning of the season. The New York Yankees would go on to defeat the Brooklyn Dodgers 4 games to 3 to win the 1947 World Series. This program is in good overall condition, is unscored and displays edge wear on the spine and in the corners.
