The 1969 Mets won the World Series in a major upset of the heavily favored Baltimore Orioles. The Mets, starting with their first season in 1962, were the perennial losers, until the “Miracle Mets” of the ’69 season arrived and captured the hearts and imaginations of baseball fans around the world.
