Presented is a vintage, extremely rare 1964 Remco toys “The Munsters” Grampa Munster doll in the original retail box. Al Lewis, the actor who portrayed Grampa on the classic 1964-1966 television sitcom, is captured in this 5-inch plastic figure with a green face, red lips, black and white hair, wearing a black tuxedo with cape and a red medallion. His white-gloved hands are extended at his sides. The figure is displayed in the original 2½ x 4¾ x 8-inch white cardboard retail box printed in black, green and pink, and wrapped in the original plastic shrink wrap. This doll was marketed as part of a set featuring the characters in the show about a family of monsters, including Grampa (a vampire), Herman (a “Frankenstein” monster and the patriarch of the family), Lily (his wife, a ghoul) and their son Eddie (a werewolf), as well as their cousin Marilyn (the only “normal” one in their family) living in a normal world in their unusual gothic mansion at 1313 Mockingbird lane with an unseen but often heard dragon under the stairs and bats and other creatures lurking in Grampa’s basement lab. Remco, a Harrison, New Jersey toy manufacturer, sold similar dolls featuring Herman and Lily as well as Grampa, which were intended to be mounted on the dashboards of cars and other flat surfaces. The plastic wrap is slightly torn at the back edge, but the box and the doll are in mint condition.
