Presented is a 1974 “Peanuts” comic strip original printing plate from April 17, 1974’s syndicated strip. The 2 x 10½-inch silver metal engraving features four panels of the Charles Schulz comic strip, with the images of characters Lucy and Schroeder (at his toy piano) in all four panels. The top of the plate has black and silver engraving including musical notes and the final panel word balloon “DID YOU KNOW THAT?” with Lucy shouting at Schroeder, who is spinning backwards from his piano. The reverse is green lacquered with an abbreviated portion of the “Dow” engraving plate logo in brown. There are three tape remnants on the reverse side. Debuting October 2, 1950 in seven newspapers, at its height, the “Peanuts” comic strip was published daily in 2,600 papers in 75 countries, in 21 languages. Over nearly 50 years, Schulz drew 17,897 published Peanuts strips.
