Princeton-Yale was a hard-fought rivalry at the turn-of-the-century and this lavishly produced souvenir book is a testament to how big of an event their annual gridiron meeting was. Specially produced for their November 23, 1895 game (which Yale won 20-10), the tan cloth-covered book is filled with photographs of not only the two university’s football team and players, but also depicts many other Ivy League sports teams from track and crew to baseball. Rosters, bios and other information fill the pages of this rare volume. In addition to the sports and university content, the book is packed with wonderful turn-of-the-century art nouveau advertising and design, making this an extremely attractive book. The book measures 7” x 10-3/8” and is in good condition with soiling on the cover/spine area and light water stains on some interior pages. A rarely seen and highly sought after piece of early college sports history.
