Offered is a lot of two 1964-1965 Eleanor Gehrig and Claire Ruth signed and inscribed photographs of their late husbands, Hall of Fame New York Yankees legends Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. The first item in this lot is a Claire Ruth signed and inscribed photograph of her late husband, Major League Baseball’s legendary slugger Babe Ruth. She inscribed “To Stanley Warzala Best Wishes Mrs. Babe Ruth 1964” in blue pen in the lower right of an 8 x 10-inch black & white publicity photo of “The Bambino” swinging a bat wearing a sweatshirt and his Yankees pinstriped pants, with no cap. The second item in this lot is an Eleanor Gehrig signed and inscribed lithographic print of an illustrated collage of her late husband, New York Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig. Mrs. Gehrig inscribed “To Stan: I know Lou would want you to have this. Cordially, Eleanor Gehrig” in blue pen in the upper left of an 8 x 10-inch white paper sheet which reproduces a four-figure vignette illustrated by artist George Lisk, with two images of “The Iron Horse” at bat, an image of him running out of the batter’s box, and of the Hall of Famer signing an autograph on a baseball for a young fan. The print is inscribed “2-16-65” in black pen in the upper right. This lot comes with a LOA from JSA (X39919) for Eleanor Gehrig’s signature and the entire lot has been pre-certified by Beckett Authentication.
