Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Here's a true 1950s classic! Now slowly emerging as a powerhouse in the Yankees arsenal, Mickey Mantle posed for the lens to yield this Bowman image in 1954 – a bit of a coup for the established gum company against its fast-approaching competitor, Topps. The card's subject, Mantle, was not yet fully recognized in his potential while aftershocks from DiMaggio's abrupt retirement persisted. (Mantle's full bloom was still a couple of seasons distant.) Meanwhile, in 1954, young admirers were treated to this portrayal on Bowman's #65. This appealing item carries very mild, evenly distributed corner wear. The card boasts tremendous detail hues, flattering border color and a clean reverse. Excellent to Mint condition.
