Although the Philadelphia “Wiz Kids” Phillies were the talk of the 1950 baseball season, the New York Yankees made short work of them by sweeping them in the World Series. The 1950 Yankees won 98 games that year, finishing 3 games above the Detroit Tigers. The New Yorkers featured 21-game winner Vic Raschi and a young kid named Whitey Ford who contributed a 9-1 record. Joe DiMaggio had his last great season, batting .301 with 32 home runs, while shortstop Phil Rizzuto led the club with a .324 average. Offered here is an original team photograph of the New York Yankees. Decked out in the home whites, the Yankees are lined up in three rows with the two bat boys seated in front. “NEW YORK YANKEES – 1950 AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS” is printed in white below the players, along with the facsimile signatures of all of the players in white. This framed photograph measures 19 ½ x 11 ½ inches.
