The “Thrilla in Manila” was the third and final match between legendary boxers Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, contested for the heavyweight championship of the world at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines, on Wednesday, October 1, 1975. Ali won by technical knockout after Frazier's chief second, Eddie Futch, asked the referee to stop the fight following the end of the 14th round. "It was like death," the victorious Ali told reporters after Futch threw in the towel to protect his fighter, almost completely blinded by the swelling around his eyes. "Closest thing to dyin' that I know of."  The bout is consistently ranked as one of the best in boxing history and was the culmination of a three-bout rivalry between the two fighters that Ali won, 2–1.

Offered here are four “A thrilla in Manila” flags from that famed Ali/Frazier duel. Each of these banners are 7 ¼ inches wide and 11 ½ inches tall at its longest length. The all have “A thrilla in Manila” Oct. 1.1975 PHILLIPINES” in white on the top and two-colored images of Ali and Frazier below. “ALI-FRAZIER” and “FIGHT OF A LIFETIME” is printed below their images. The flags are made of felt on the front and a fabric material on the back with three of them still having tassels on the top. One flag has an orange backdrop with red accents, one flag has a green backdrop with red accents, one flag has a red backdrop with black accents and the last one has a dark blue backdrop with red accents. All of these flags display age wear, along with some staining. A great piece of history from one of boxing’s all-time premier events.
