Perhaps no singular recording artist of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s best captured the angst and elation of American life than Bruce Springsteen. On the verge of failure, Springsteen and his E-Street band found its voice and that voice found an audience searching for more during the petty culture of the 1970s. With passionate crooning about doomed lovers, the street’s frenzy, and painful longing, Springsteen performed marathon concerts to the delight of his fans. By the early ‘80s, Springsteen turned his eclectic and poetic narratives into indictments on American institutions. The 70s may have been born to run, but the 80s were born to run away, especially if you were born in the U.S.A. Offered here is the iconic album with the cover featuring Springsteen in jeans with a red baseball cap in the right rear pocket. Red and white stripes comprise the background and the album title “Born in the USA Bruce Springsteen” stretches in blue across the top edge. The vinyl record is half enveloped by the cover, showing the red Columbia Records label with “Bruce Springsteen” and “BORN IN THE U.S.A.” printed in black. Springsteen’s sweeping and swooping signature in bold black marker scrawls across his white, t-shirted back on the album cover. The signature comes with a LOA from JSA (Z92212).
